COVID-19 protocols adjusted for student-athletes

RIT is implementing a change to its COVID-19 protocols for its NCAA athletes.

For those NCAA sanctioned sports teams with fully vaccinated athletes and athletic personnel, no masks are required during scheduled practices and athletic training. All athletes and athletic personnel must continue to follow RIT, league and NCAA masking protocols outside of scheduled practices and athletic training, including during team meetings, in locker rooms and while traveling for competition.

“We feel comfortable making these adjustments because these athletes are fully vaccinated and these changes are supported by the recommendations from the NCAA Medical Advisory Group.” said Jackie Nicholson, executive director, RIT Intercollegiate Athletics.

These changes only affect NCAA-sanctioned teams. Current guidelines for club sports, intramurals and performing arts remain in effect per the RIT Safety Plan.
