Crop of glass pumpkins ready for picking

Unique hand-blown pumpkins to be sold Oct. 6

Unique hand-blown glass pumpkins, gourds, vases and paperweights will be for sale during the eighth annual School for American Crafts’ Glass Pumpkin Patch fundraiser on Oct. 6.

Unlike Charlie Brown’s friend Linus who waits in vain each year for the Great Pumpkin to come, the wait is over for the arrival of Rochester Institute of Technology’s great glass pumpkins.

RIT’s School for American Crafts will sell its unique hand-blown glass pumpkins, gourds, vases and paperweights during the eighth annual Glass Pumpkin Patch fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 in RIT’s Red Barn, on the west side of campus, off Minett Drive.

Students and faculty from the School for American Crafts create the one-of-a-kind pieces. The items range in price from $10 to $400. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

The Women’s Council of RIT, in partnership with the glass program at RIT’s School for American Crafts, sponsors the event. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the School for American Crafts’ Visiting Artists Series as well as the Women’s Council scholarships.
