Deaf veterinarians to discuss career paths

Two area women who are deaf and work as veterinarians will talk about their professional training and career paths at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the CSD Student Development Center, room 1310.

Dr. Kim Dodge and Dr. Jennifer Miller, who work at area animal hospitals, will talk about what it took to get where they are, and how they are able to examine an animal without using a traditional stethoscope.

Questions from the audience will follow their talk, which is part of the Edmund Lyon Memorial Lectureship Series.

Edmund Lyon was a noted manufacturer, inventor, humanitarian and philanthropist in Rochester prior to his death in 1920. He served as a trustee to the Rochester School for the Deaf as well as RIT. His family established the lectureship to bring distinguished professionals and scholars to Rochester for the benefit of students, educators and the community.

Interpreters and captioning will be provided. Admission is free.
