Gallery r showcases research in visual arts

‘Delving In’ features work of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students throughout CIAS

Gallery r, Rochester Institute of Technology’s metro showcase and learning laboratory for the arts, is hosting an upcoming group exhibition showcasing both the rigorous and creative research in the visual arts and imaging sciences.

“Delving In: Research, Scholarship & Creativity in the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences,” features the work of a faculty member, graduate student and undergraduate student from each of the six schools in RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The exhibition will take place from Feb. 5 to 21 at Gallery r, 100 College Ave. in downtown Rochester. A free reception, open to the public, is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5.

RIT’s College of Imaging Arts & Sciences consists of the School of Art, School for American Crafts, School of Design, School of Film and Animation, School of Media Sciences and School of Photographic Arts and Sciences. In addition, it includes the Image Permanence Institute, a recognized world leader in the development and deployment of sustainable practices for the preservation of images and cultural property.

“This exhibit provides a glimpse into the diverse activities that maintain the college’s mission—to inspire, innovate and educate in the fields where creativity and technology converge,” said John Aäsp, gallery director for CIAS.

Gallery r serves as the primary showcase for RIT’s creative community in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts. The Gallery r’s regular hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Call 585-475-4977 or email john.aasp@rit.edu for more information.
