International Photographer Ernesto Bazan Presents Documentary Work of Cuban History
Bazan’s presentation and booksigning are part of Charles Arnold Lecture Series on Feb. 16
Ernesto Bazan visits RIT's College of Art and Design for lecture and book signing event
Ernesto Bazan says photography is a true passion, a mission in his life. The international photographer will share his life’s work in the next installment of the Charles Arnold Lecture Series at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Bazan’s presentation is at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. Bazan will hold a book signing immediately following. The lecture is sponsored by RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences.
Bazan has released a new book, BazanCuba, chronicling 14 years of life on the island of Cuba. Bazan documents the time in Cuban history called The Special Period.
His images of Cuba have led to numerous honors including first prize in the daily life story category at the World Press Photo competition and fellowships from the Alicia Patterson Foundation and the Guggenheim Foundation. Bazan has published several books: The Perpetual Past, Passing Through, The First Twenty Years and Island.
Born in Sicily, Bazan began taking photographs of his native city and its rural areas when he received his first camera at age 14.
Bazan currently teaches photographic workshops with special emphasis on Latin America.

RIT to hold inaugural Latinx graduation
