    Rob Sands, president and chief executive officer of Constellation Brands Inc., joined RIT President Bill Destler in dedicating the Constellation Commons for Global Learning on Oct. 22. Constellation Commons, located in Global Village, will serve students and faculty as a touch point and clearinghouse for all aspects of global education at the university. The facility is being funded by a $1 million commitment from the company.

    Hundreds of mourners filled RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activities Center Oct. 21 for the campus memorial service for RIT/NTID alumnus and former Public Safety officer Tony Wallace. Wallace was killed in the line of duty Aug. 28 while on patrol in Hoonah, Alaska.

    Provost emeritus and professor of English Stan McKenzie poses with architect Jeanne Gang following her presentation, “Assembly as Medium,” Oct. 20 at RIT. Gang, the founder and principal of Studio Gang Architects, is the designer of Chicago’s Aqua Tower, the largest building in the world designed by a woman. Her talk, part of the Caroline Werner Gannett Project’s “Visionaries in Motion” series, was dedicated to McKenzie, who is retiring at the end of the academic year.

    In recognition of International Conflict Resolution Day Oct. 21, RIT hosted free presentations by one of the country’s foremost experts on community civility. P.M. Forni, professor at Johns Hopkins University and co-founder of the Johns Hopkins Civility Project, presented “Civility on Campus in the Age of the Internet.”

    Uzi Buzgalo’s exhibit “Wealth of Hands,” a mixed-media exhibition based on his experiences as a deaf artist, is on view through Nov. 19 in the NTID Dyer Arts Center. Buzgalo and his family were present for a talk and reception on Oct. 20.

    Eighty-five employer representatives from 41 organizations around the country talked with nearly 400 deaf and hard-of-hearing students and alumni about summer co-ops and permanent jobs Oct. 14 at NTID’s 10th Annual Job Fair. Twenty-three of the representatives were RIT/NTID alumni.
