RIT Hosts 63rd Annual New York State Economics Conference

Climate change economics, the impact of the national trade imbalance with China and business creation in the developing world are just a few of the topics that will be featured at the 63rd annual conference of the New York State Economics Association.

The academic symposium, which includes faculty and students from colleges and universities throughout the state and greater Northeast region, will be held Sept. 24-25 at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Ronald Jones, the Xerox Professor of Economics at the University of Rochester and an expert in international trade, will present the keynote address. The event also features student and faculty presentations, panel discussions and open forums designed to promote greater understanding of the economic forces impacting American society and the international community.

“The development of effective national and international economic policies and business practices is dependent in part on strong analysis and a firm understanding of the societal, cultural and political forces impacting world economies,” notes Jeffrey Wagner, associate professor of economics at RIT and the current president of the New York State Economics Association. “The association has a long history of promoting cutting edge research and open discussion in a host of areas and it is our hope the 2010 conference will further promote the use of economic study as a means for addressing the global challenges we face.”
