Turn off the lights! RIT supports Earth Hour March 27

World Wildlife Fund

The World Wildlife Foundation hosts its 3rd annual Earth Hour on March 27th.

Earth Hour—a global phenomenon led by the World Wildlife Fund—will start at 8:30 p.m. March 27 with a flip of the switch.

Individuals, organizations, businesses and state and local governments will show their support for action to protect the Earth’s natural resources, environment and climate by turning off non-essential lighting. RIT is an official supporter of Earth Hour.

RIT community members are encouraged to support the event by turning off their lights in solidarity of the quiet worldwide protest against the wasting of resources. The Residence Hall Association will host and Earth Hour party on the Greek Lawn for students living in the dormitories.

Earth Hour began in 2007 and continues to grow in popularity. Last year, people in 4,100 cities in 87 countries participated in the event.
