Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Student Accountability and Restorative
Practices, the Student Accountability Coordinator (Residence Conduct)
primarily responds to residence hall student behavior that is in conflict
with the conduct expectations and values reflected in the Student Code of
Conduct, Residence Hall Policies or other applicable University policies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Residence Hall Conduct and Restorative Practices

Receives and addresses complaints of alleged student violations of the
residence hall policies using established adjudication procedures; exercises
judgment regarding the resolution of complaints utilizing a spectrum of
resolution options which may include dialogue, conflict coaching, facilitated
dialogue, mediation, restorative practices, shuttle diplomacy, and informal
or formal adjudication consistent with student learning outcomes; and assists
and supports residents in their growth and identity by providing support,
mediation, crisis intervention and follow-ups through a culturally competent
lens.
Addresses all residence hall conduct and disciplinary aspects and applies a
variety of resolution options, including restorative practices approaches;
and manages a process that is fundamentally fair, impartial, and primarily
restorative and educational; and ensures that student’s rights under the
process are equitable and followed.
Utilizes the Maxient student conduct database to document and process conduct
cases; and maintains accurate records of conduct cases in the student conduct
database.
Ensures University compliance with policies and procedures as stated in the
Student Handbook; provides consultation and referral for students on
residential matters (e.g., providing relevant information, interpreting
policies and procedures); and collaborates with the Department of Public
Safety to collect evidence as needed and ensure accuracy in reports received.
Collaborates with Residence Life staff to support and follow up with students
of concern and conduct informal resolution conferences with students involved
in alleged violations as needed.
Assists the Director of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices, in
concert with University stakeholders, with developing and evaluating
educational processes rooted in a restorative practices approach; tracks its
impact over time through data collection and analysis.

Campus Community Outreach & Education

Assists the Director or the Program Manager with training for residents and
residence hall staff on University and residence hall policies, the student
conduct process, student conduct database, resolution options, and other
related topics.
Fosters positive working relationships with the Department of Public Safety,
Athletics, Counseling and Psychological Services and other departments
associated with student discipline on our campus as applicable to the
position; and may also serve on departmental, divisional and university-wide
committees as applicable to the position.
Identifies and integrates best practices in the field of Residence Life and
Housing, Student Conduct and Restorative Practices; and stays abreast of
current developments in the field of residence life,  student conduct and
restorative practices by maintaining professional membership in and
participating in relevant conferences, webinars, workshops, and other
membership subscriptions.

Other Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the Alcohol and Drug Committee, Student Affairs
Restorative Practices Team, and other related committees.
Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with
co-workers and supervisor.
Shows a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the
workplace; and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous
learning.
Serves as a mandatory Title IX reporter; and takes annual Title IX training
as part of the compliance effort.
Performs other related duties as assigned.



Requirements:
SPECIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications (When the candidate’s resume meets these
qualifications, it will be screened in.):

Bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in social services, case
management, or a related area.
Fluency in American Sign Language.
Preferred Qualifications (While not required, it is an advantage for what the
position needs.):

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social
work, education, or related human behavior field.
Experience working in student conduct or residence life settings especially
supporting students in crisis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Qualities that will help the incumbent be
more successful in the position):

Excellent rapport skills and strong writing skills.
Exceptional awareness of the current issues in higher education related to
student conduct and conflict resolution.
Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze
information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult
challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme
sensitivity.
Strong knowledge of federal laws, state laws, and mandates including Title IX
of the Higher Education Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act,
American Disabilities Act, Higher Education Act of America, Jeanne Clery Act,
and the Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Act.
Strong ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures  to situations
consistently.
Strong proficiency in data or case management such as Maxient.
Demonstrated experience of managing a caseload or other experience that
demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to balance
priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and mature judgment and manage
multiple priorities at once.
Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside
constituents and groups.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive
working and learning environment.
Other Important Information:

The incumbent must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including
evenings, as the need arises.
All employees are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and

The successful candidate will undergo a background check that must be cleared
