Christopher Ferrari, a marketing and political science student, was selected to the 2023 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll representing RIT. The

awards college students doing outstanding work to advance nonpartisan democratic engagement at participating campuses. Ferrari joins a group of 175 students recognized for their voter registration, education, and turnout efforts ahead of last year’s historic midterm elections. RIT was recognized as one of
ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge’s Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting
in November 2022.
Brit Milazzo, communication and marketing manager for the K-12 University Center, was presented with the Joint Meritorious Unit Award through U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in April. Milazzo, a longtime reservist in the U.S. Navy, regularly works with the command, providing intelligence services to joint units she supports with the Army, Air Force, and Navy. She was a member of a USSTRATCOM team that provided “exceptionally meritorious service” to the command.
Tiffany Panko, research faculty in the Deaf Health Laboratory and Deaf Health Care and Biomedical Science Hub, collaborated with Tyler James from the University of Michigan and several other researchers to publish
“Healthcare communication access among deaf and hard-of-hearing people during pregnancy”
in the journal Patient Education and Counseling, volume 112. The team’s web-based survey revealed that people who are deaf and hard of hearing reported ineffective healthcare communications in different platforms (professional sign language interpreters, VRI, paper and pen, etc.), which emphasizes the need for improvement in the healthcare system in providing better communication accommodations.
