Building Her Own Blueprint: Hannah Durand Merges Architecture and Business at RIT
At RIT, Hannah Durand found the ideal place to pursue her passions for architecture and business. Through SOIS, she designed an individualized degree that combines architectural design with marketing strategy, while preparing her for RIT’s Master of Architecture program.
“When I transferred to RIT, I was looking for a way to merge my passions for architecture, business, and creativity,” Hannah said. “SOIS gave me the flexibility to design a degree that perfectly combined these fields.”
For her capstone, she created a marketing package for a mock architecture firm, merging visual identity design with architectural thinking. The project enabled her to explore how creative business practices can influence the presentation and understanding of architectural concepts.
From being on the basketball team and daily training at Clark Gym to multifaceted coursework, Hannah managed to strike a balance in her daily routine. She also refined her skills in Revit and Adobe Creative Cloud, interned at an architectural and engineering (A&E) firm, and established a foundation for a career that combines creativity, strategy, and design.
“I’m most proud of how I crafted an academic path that supports both my architectural aspirations and my creative business goals,” she said. “SOIS helped me think outside the box and turn my vision into a plan.”
Join us in celebrating Hannah and wishing her continued success as her creative vision takes shape!
