What is great about your co-op?

Working at Gulfstream Aerospace in the Customer Completion and Delivery Department was an incredible opportunity to be a liaison between customers, engineering teams, and technicians on the production floor. My favorite part of the co-op was the level of exposure I gained across the entire aircraft lifecycle from the initial definition and design phases to final delivery. I loved the balance of technical and aesthetic work, whether I was shadowing team leaders during aircraft outfitting or conducting inspections to ensure the product met the prestigious Gulfstream standards. This experience was made truly special by the department culture, where I worked with an extremely talented group of people who transitioned from mentors to friends. Because of this strong team dynamic, I was trusted with significant responsibilities that included leading highly visible projects, requiring me to multitask across departments and coordinate directly with leadership teams.

In what ways has Saunders/RIT prepared you for the job market?

Saunders and RIT have prepared me for the job market by providing me with a background that balances technical operations knowledge with the soft skills necessary to successfully navigate the workplace. My curriculum provided a foundational understanding of supply chain, lean operations, and manufacturing technology, which allowed me to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams. Beyond the classroom, the emphasis on team-based projects and club leadership in Saunders has been a primary driver of my professional growth. These experiences taught me how to take agency within a group and to work effectively in a team to achieve a common goal.

Why did you decide to attend Saunders College of Business at RIT?

I chose Saunders College of Business at RIT because of its combination of business and technology that I believe is non-negotiable for success in modern business. Additionally, RIT’s mandatory co-op program was a major factor in my decision. Graduating with significant work experience makes students more desirable candidates and opens doors that traditional programs might not. My decision was ultimately solidified when I was accepted into the +1 MBA accelerated pathway program. Having the opportunity to streamline graduate school with a scholarship was something that wasn't offered to me at any other institution. This unique opportunity made Saunders a clear choice.

What do you feel is the most distinctive advantage gained from your Saunders experience?

The most distinctive advantage of my Saunders experience is the school's size and the favorable student-to-faculty ratio that allowed me to maximize my education. The environment at Saunders feels personalized, so I wasn't just another face in a lecture hall. This accessibility allowed me to seize opportunities that specifically aligned with my career goals, such as securing leadership positions in clubs and participating in specialized opportunities. Having direct access to faculty and a tight-knit community gave me a platform to take agency in my learning, which has played a huge role in shaping me professionally.
