RIT is vying to be the first university to develop and have a game character accepted into the wildly popular online game Dota 2. The character, or courier, in the form of a tiger, was developed in MAGIC Spell Studios by a team of former RIT students and a faculty adviser.

Christine Jones, a third-year management information systems student from Inkster, Mich., was awarded the Doug Peacock Scholarship. The scholarship helps underrepresented students at RIT.

Carlson Center for Imaging Science, has launched a project funded by the Department of Energy to develop remote sensing technology that could have applications ranging from assessing earthquake damage to determining soil moisture for predicting crop yield.

After a two-year hiatus, RIT’s College of Art and Design reintroduced the Charrette, a unique, weeklong design challenge in which students must create a wearable sculpture that communicated the idea of memory. In addition to other prizes awarded, the work of 15 students was selected to appear on the runway during Fashion Week Rochester, set for Oct. 13-15.
