Linguists face a resource gap for studying visual prosody and its grammatical and emotional functions in sign languages, and for creating AI systems capable of processing visual prosody. Faculty members affiliated with RIT’s Ph.D. program in Cognitive Science aim to fill that gap through Deaf scientist-centered research.

RIT engineering professor Cory Merkel was one of more than a dozen researchers in neuromorphic computing contributing findings published on Jan. 22 in Nature.

Spearheaded by RIT’s Division of Academic Affairs and Professor Joe Geigel, the rigorous program engages undergraduate and graduate students in long-term, large-scale, multidisciplinary projects led by faculty researchers.

A new National Science Foundation grant will allow 18 RIT students to travel to Sweden and conduct artificial intelligence (AI) research that enhances the industrial workplace. The students will take part in a program of AI research, professional development, and mentorship, which includes eight weeks at University West, near Gothenburg, Sweden.

RIT’s new real estate in hospitality minor gives students the opportunity to connect real estate knowledge with hospitality management practices. Launched in fall 2023, this minor is designed to equip students with specialized skills for careers in both industries.

Unique program offerings, technological expertise, and cutting-edge facilities earned RIT’s School of Film and Animation another placement on a top film school ranking list this year. RIT placed 29th in TheWrap’s Top 50 Film Schools for 2024 list, marking the first year RIT was featured in this ranking.
