The Restaurant and Event Management spring 2022 class is taking over the RIT Catering Pop Ups this semester. Ted Ganster, hospitality and tourism management visiting lecturer, and Autumn Geer, RIT Dining director of event operations—catering and concessions, team teach the class.

Rick Kittles, an RIT Distinguished Alumnus and Board of Trustees member, delivered the talk, "The Role of Diversity in Critical Thinking,” on March 23. Kittles, who researches prostate cancer and genetics in African Americans, was the College of Science and Fram Distinguished Speaker.

Tora-Con, a convention celebrating anime and cosplay, took place on campus March 19. The annual event is run by students from the RIT Anime Club.

RIT/NTID student Dakota Halliburton gets an up close visit with a butterfly in The Strong Museum’s Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden as part of the first “Deaf Day of Play.” The event was in partnership with the museum and RIT/NTID.

The RIT Zine Fest and zine-making workshop took place in the SAU on March 18. More than a dozen vendors who are RIT students, faculty, and staff, along with Rochester-area publishers, took part in the event.

The RIT Outstanding Undergraduate Scholars Awards were held March 17 in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. This 46th annual event recognizes the top 1 percent of RIT students.

“Up Against the Wall: Art, Activism, and the AIDS Poster” will be on view at RIT’s University Gallery March 14 through April 8. This is a satellite companion exhibition to the main exhibition of AIDS posters at the Memorial Art Gallery, March 6 through June 19. In addition, historian Jennie Brier and designer Matt Wizinsky will discuss their collaboration, “I’m Still Surviving: A Living Women’s History of HIV/AIDS,” during a talk related to the exhibition from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in University Gallery.

RIT hosted the 2022 edition of the FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional, March 10-12 at the Gordon Field House. Thirty-seven high school teams from New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio competed in the competition RAPID REACT. 

Saunders College of Business celebrated International Women's History Month at the Power Your Potential Women's Leadership Conference on March 4. The annual event invites businesswomen to gain insights from their peers and engage in educational activities geared at helping women succeed. J’nez Thomas ’20 (MBA) was a presenter.

AdvanceRIT hosted its first-ever Women's Resource Fair in celebration of Women's History Month on Thursday, March 3. AdvanceRIT’s mission is to enable all faculty at RIT, particularly women, to contribute their full potential, to increase their representation and retention, and to advance their careers. Other events they have planned this month include a Women's History Month reading circle, a session on strategies for maintaining balance as an academic, and a program about understanding RIT's pay practices. 

Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, along with other fraternities and sororities, organized an event to raise money for the International Committee of the Red Cross to benefit Ukraine.

Thousands of RIT students in search of co-op opportunities and full-time employment are expected to attend the spring career fair throughout the day. This year’s fair is the largest since the beginning of the pandemic.
