CET department changes name to reflect advances in communications networking technologies

RIT’s College of Engineering Technology recently announced a name change for its Department of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Technology. The new name is the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, and better reflects advances in the communications networking industries.

The department will consist of two undergraduate degree programs—computer engineering technology and electrical engineering technology— and a graduate program—communication networks. It will continue to offer dual degree and accelerated options.

These changes have come about through the college’s expanded coursework and research initiatives that include photonics and optoelectronics, smart buildings, infrastructure, and transportation, as well as wireless communications, and will prepare graduates for careers in these growing fields.
