Venture Creations member companies named to Top 20 in GROW-NY competition

Crystal Creek Organics and Agri-Trac will compete for a share of the $3 million prize

RIT Venture Creations client companies Crystal Creek Organics and Agri-Trac have been named to the Top 20 in the GROW-NY Food and Agriculture Competition.

Crystal Creek Organics, a clean-energy incubator company, manufactures unique organic fertilizers by extracting and separating nutrients and organic material from manure-based, bio-gas digesters. Using a patented, eco-friendly technology, Crystal Creek provides the Southern Tier region with a high-volume economical and environmental alternative to fertilization that eradicates harmful phosphorus.

Agri-Trac is a farm management application suite, developed especially for the apple industry. The application includes customizable modules that allow farm operators to manage things such as employee H2-A contracts, production records, payroll, and time sheets. The company is also building a data warehouse to provide industry leaders with pertinent data that was once difficult to obtain.

Grow-NY is a food and agriculture business competition that identifies, supports, and funds the top food, beverage, and agriculture innovations across the globe. This year’s Grow-NY competition attracted applications from 32 countries including Singapore, Israel, and Switzerland. In the United States, 23 states were represented, including 138 entries from New York. The competition includes a $1 million top prize and additional cash prizes, mentorship, training, business development support, and tax incentives. Competing companies will pitch their business plans at the GROW-NY Summit on Nov. 16-17.
