TITLE:                            Interpreter Scheduling and Client Database
Specialist

POSITION STATUS:    Full Time – Temporary – 1 year (Non-Union)

SCHEDULE:                   Monday to Friday – (some flexibility required)

REPORTS TO:               Director of Business Relations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a
provincial leader in the Deaf community. Our mission is to provide care and
opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality
of life of those we serve. We are a highly motivated, collaborative team on a
mission to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We take a person
centered approach that aims to support and make a positive difference in the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.  Our perks include but not limited to

community. This is a temporary position until May, 2023 with the possibility
of extension.

Reporting to the Director of Business Relations the Interpreter Scheduling
and Client Database Specialist is responsible for managing sign language
interpreting services for culturally Deaf, oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of
Hearing consumers and implementing Share Vision client management software.

PRIMARY DUTIES

•	Receive and process to completion all sign language interpreter requests
from internal and external consumers
•	Assess needs of interpreter requests, preferences, availability/skill
level and time factors; search, offer and match requests with appropriate
interpreter
•	Obtain preparatory information/materials for interpreters as required
•	Monitor, assess interpreter schedules; maintain reports to tracks
assignments, usage, downtime; manage/resolve scheduling conflicts
•	Utilize scheduling software to manage interpreter bookings
•	Reconcile interpreter invoices
•	Advocate for and educate consumers on protocols for booking interpreters,
AODA and rights to access, appropriate use of interpreter services and
fee-for-service model
•	Be an expert on the functionality and capabilities of the software,
formulate recommendations, and support configuration of system modules
•	Provide outstanding customer service and resolve issues throughout the
implementation process.
•	Assess gaps, perform root-cause analysis, develop logical conclusions,
and suggest appropriate workarounds



Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS

•	2-3 year college diploma in Business Administration and/or computer
sciences or equivalent
•	Minimum 1 year experience working with Sign Language Interpreters
(ASL/English)
•	Minimum 1 year experience working with complex software applications as a
super user, configuration/implementation or support analyst and/or trainer
•	Demonstrated IT proficiencies and database management experience
•	A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
•	Fluent in American Sign Language and strong understanding/experience with
Deaf culture
•	Excellent analytical, communication and critical thinking skills
•	Strong MS Office and Share Vision skills
•	Ability to work independently while participating in a team environment
•	Able to lead discussions with management on expertise related to
interpreter services and data management
•	Demonstrated sensitivity working within a culturally diverse environment
•	French/LSQ an asset
