CODA Research Study

The Reading and Deafness (RAD) Lab is back for the Fall 2025 semester! We're recruiting hearing adults who learned ASL from Deaf signing parents (children of deaf adults; CODAs) for two exciting, and paid, research studies. Eligible participants will come to LBJ/NTID to complete pen-and-paper tasks, as well as up to two eye-tracking tasks. You may choose to complete one or both studies, each of which take ~45 minutes to complete, and will receive $30 for each eye-tracking session. If you would like to complete both, you may schedule two separate 1-hour sessions or a single 2-hour session.

Take our language background survey on Qualtrics to see if you are eligible.

More from this edition

Thank you for welcoming me this past month. It is an exciting time: meeting people, getting to know the many organizations here and around Rochester, and I look forward to more positive experiences. With all of us working together, we will continue the legacy of those before us.

You asked, and I’m answering! Here are a few of our students’ most burning questions.

Admissions has wrapped up the Fall 2025 class and begun planning for the new recruitment cycle, and our counselors are ready to hit the road now and begin work to enroll our class for next fall.

We successfully conducted five on-campus summer programs this year, serving more than 230 students.
