Tiger Collective: News from NTID and President Solomon

International Education Outreach

Tommie Sarchet

We are pleased to report that, despite current visa challenges, we welcomed 11 new deaf international students this fall, including three into the Master of Science in Deaf Education program. We have 12 Sasakawa-DeCaro scholars this academic year with four partial scholarship awardees and eight full scholarship awardees.

We also finalized an agreement for a tripartite partnership between NTID, Fulbright Italy, and the Wirth Foundation to support Italian students taking coursework and research in deaf education.

Thank you for welcoming me this past month. It is an exciting time: meeting people, getting to know the many organizations here and around Rochester, and I look forward to more positive experiences. With all of us working together, we will continue the legacy of those before us.

You asked, and I’m answering! Here are a few of our students’ most burning questions.

Admissions has wrapped up the Fall 2025 class and begun planning for the new recruitment cycle, and our counselors are ready to hit the road now and begin work to enroll our class for next fall.

We successfully conducted five on-campus summer programs this year, serving more than 230 students.
