Learning from experts in the field
I have a background in public health and have worked in health care for some years. I really wanted to understand what makes a hospital system tick. I chose RIT’s Health Systems Management master’s degree specifically because of their close working relationship with Rochester Regional Health. It was a great opportunity to learn from people who I know of at Rochester Regional Health and be able to have them as my professors.

While the program is not one that I would call easy by any means, being able to work online really made it possible for me to maintain my work-life-school balance. I was able to complete my assignments at my own pace and support was always easily available when needed.
The most valuable experience for me in this program was learning about every facet of the health system. In my experience, I had learned just a fraction about the very large field that is health care. This program really is intensive in that it teaches you about all parts of health care; from population health to finance to research and more. The professors are also all experts in the field, so being able to learn directly from them was a very valuable experience.
The MS HSA has impacted my career by helping me to understand the health system as well as helping me to grow professionally. I learned very practical concepts in a hands-on manner, so that is going to help me as I continue my career in health care.
My advice to anyone considering investing in the Health Systems Management master’s degree from RIT is that this degree will really help you understand all the ins and outs of the healthcare system by providing an extensive, practical education along with interaction with experts in the field. If you want to learn everything about running a health care system, this is a degree you will want to consider!
