Where Analytics and Strategy Meet: A Summer at Constellation Brands

What is great about your co-op?

The culture at Constellation was like none other. The full-time employees were more than welcoming and excited to have all of us on board for the summer, always looking to help out and mentor where they could. But also among the intern cohort we all got along super well, challenging each other, helping each other out and having a lot of fun along the way. I also enjoyed getting to work on real work straight from the beginning, there was no point where I felt like I was doing work that was unimportant or "busy work". Throughout my entire internship I felt like I was directly contributing to responsibilities and projects assigned to my team.

In what ways has Saunders/RIT prepared you for the job market?

Saunders has helped prepare me for the job market in a number of ways. From resume and interview advice to faculty mentoring, I felt very prepared walking into the career fair and meeting the Constellation Brands recruiter, which eventually led to me landing the job. Once on the job, throughout the summer I found myself thinking back to concepts and discussions that came up in my classes. This gave me both the knowledge and problem-solving approach I needed to make informed decisions and produce high-quality work throughout my internship.

Why did you decide to attend Saunders College of Business at RIT?

I decided to attend Saunders College of Business at RIT because I really liked the idea of attending a business college within a technical university. While I am in a business program, I still get exposure and opportunities to learn more about technology and develop technical skills through my curriculum and research. Additionally, the MIS program felt very unique and was exactly what I was looking for to prepare me for the types of careers I am interested in. I also really appreciate Saunders’ strong career focus and national and international alumni network. I feel like I am well prepared to apply for jobs and leverage that network both in Rochester and around the world.

What do you feel is the most distinctive advantage gained from your Saunders experience?

The most distinctive advantage I have gained from my Saunders experience is the ability to approach business problems from both a business and technical perspective. Through my coursework in Finance and MIS, along with research and internship experience, I have been able to build both analytical and technical skills that I think will help me stand out in the job market. I have also really valued the Saunders community and the network I have been able to build through classmates, faculty, alumni, and professional opportunities. Having that combination of skills, support, and connections has made me much more confident as I prepare to start my career.
