WROC-TV talks to Bob Finnerty, associate vice president of University Communications, about the innovation that will be on display at Imagine RIT this Saturday.

Each fall semester, RIT in LA students attend classes and gain work experience while living on the West Coast. Students come home with experiences that will help pave the way to a career in the entertainment industry.

The annual Futurists Symposium features a unique collection of the university’s alumni innovators, all highlighting their expertise on a variety of topics. The event begins at 4 p.m. Friday in Ingle Auditorium.

This is the first semester RIT in NYC was offered, and nine students jumped at the opportunity to gain work experience through internships, take in-person classes tailored to the program, and enjoy excursions around one of the largest creative industry landscapes on the East Coast.

The Rochester History journal's 21st-century makeover is turning heads and winning accolades and grant funding.

For his final capstone project, Snyder, a Rochester Native, directed a short film called Turn Table. The film spins a tale of a young man with Down syndrome who goes into a record store to find an album but keeps getting pulled in many directions by different people who don’t quite understand him.

What began as an online study using surveys to assess cognitive reserve has since evolved into a full-scale, in-person research effort in RIT’s Neurobehavioral Lab.

RIT has a long history and culture of academic and extracurricular work in open source. Adrian Edwards hopes to pass his passion on to other students when he graduates in May and starts a job at Red Hat.

Graduate students Olivia Towne and Meghan Taylor gave back to the RIT community with their graduate research projects, which focused on the nutritional needs of student athletes and the challenges facing people with food allergies.

RIT will confer honorary degrees to four outstanding individuals at its 2025 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 9. The honorees will be recognized alongside more than 5,000 graduates, including those from RIT’s international campuses.

Student’s access to state-of-the-art facilities and software, impressive faculty with industry experience, and a wealth of opportunities for hands-on learning before graduation has earned RIT’s School of Film and Animation (SOFA) more recognition as one of the top animation schools in the nation.

The program, founded in 2008, is part of the NYSP2I’s ongoing efforts to make the state more sustainable for workers, the public, the environment, and the economy through pollution prevention.
