Several students at NTID were honored with academic achievement awards ahead of RIT’s virtual commencement ceremony on May 8.

Six teams of deaf and hard-of-hearing students from NTID adapted to a virtual presentation format for the annual Next Big Idea business competition. Student presenters from as far away as Dubai shared their ideas for new businesses that positively impact deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is forming a new School of Information to recognize the changing roles of information professionals. The school aims to bridge the digital divide and make computing solutions available, accessible, usable and suitable to all.

DiwaTech, an interface design solution to improve video game accessibility, took home the $5,000 first prize during The Next Big Idea business competition, hosted by NTID.

Cole Johnson, the first student to graduate with RIT’s new bachelor’s degree in human centered-computing, is passionate about people and technology.

RIT was well-represented at the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) ASSETS conference in early November, with more than a dozen faculty and students presenting projects in the field of computing accessibility.

Rochester Institute of Technology students and faculty from various disciplines put their creative problem-solving skills to good use earlier this month. Working collaboratively, they examined challenges faced by client organizations and then presented conceptual solutions to them during a two-day event.
