RIT received two prestigious awards from the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine designated RIT as a 2022 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient and a 2022 Diversity Champion.

RIT was recognized by Forbes on its 2022 list of America’s Best Employers by State. RIT ranked 20th in New York state, making it the highest rated university in the Greater Rochester region.

Innovation, value, co-op education, and excellence in undergraduate teaching are among the categories in which RIT is highly ranked and listed as one of the best national universities by U.S. News & World Report.

RIT faculty members Jennifer Bailey and Cynthia Tawaf were each named 2022 KEEN Engineering Unleashed Fellows for outstanding leadership in undergraduate engineering education.

Tori Russell, a second-year biotechnology and molecular bioscience student from Warsaw, N.Y., recently added the College of Liberal Arts’ applied modern language and culture program as a second major. Russell is enrolled in the newest French option for this program.

The Liberal Arts Multidisciplinary Scholars program, which is being introduced this fall, gives financial support to students in STEM majors who are interested in adding a second major from RIT's College of Liberal Arts.

RIT students, faculty, and staff will contribute music, dance, comedy, poetry, photojournalism, and more during the 11th annual Rochester Fringe Festival, which begins Sept. 13 and continues through Sept. 24 in downtown Rochester.

RIT will hold a remembrance vigil Monday morning for those who died in the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. The event begins at 8:10 a.m. outside RIT’s Student Alumni Union, next to The Sentinel sculpture, where 2,977 flags will be planted on the grass, honoring each life lost in the attacks.

RIT is part of a major national initiative that secured more than $63.7 million to establish upstate New York as a national hub for battery research and manufacturing. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer announced that Binghamton University’s New Energy New York Proposal secured substantial funding for the new hub, Battery-NY, which will include partners such as RIT’s Battery Prototyping Center and New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology.

RIT’s College of Liberal Arts and College of Science have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the RMSC to formalize a partnership between the institutions. Through the formalized partnership, RIT and RMSC will build upon and expand its existing collaborations to benefit both the RIT and greater Rochester communities.

RIT’s co-starring role as a venue for the nation’s very first traveling art exhibition is the subject of a new book from RIT Press.

America’s Got Talent season 16 winner Dustin Tavella will be performing his magic at RIT’s Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend on Oct. 14. Tavella won the show’s top prize of $1 million last year with his act, which blends magic and inspirational messages.
