RIT to Announce Expanded Engineering Outreach Program
NSF sponsored effort will broaden engineering knowledge among elementary school students
RIT’s Women in Engineering program will announce a major expansion of its K-12 outreach efforts during an educator networking session to be held 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, on the RIT campus.
The event will include the unveiling of new Traveling Engineering Activity Kits, hands on training aids which use simple experiments and visual guides to teach engineering concepts to middle school children. The kits’ hardware and the educational curriculum that will be used in the enhanced outreach program were designed by RIT engineering students and are funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The event also includes a keynote address from Caroline Baillie, the DuPont Chair for Engineering, Education, Research and Development at Queen’s University in Canada.
