RIT hosted the international finals of the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) Nov. 22-24. Stanford University took home the top trophy in the 2019 competition, while RIT placed second and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona placed third. 

The Memorandum of Understanding will establish student and faculty exchange programs and short- and long-term teaching, learning, research, innovation, discovery and global outreach missions.

For the last several decades, volunteer groups have played a pivotal role in keeping RIT’s curriculum relevant and current with the latest industry trends. The groups of 10 to 30 leaders from a wide variety of companies come together a few times a year to offer their insights for RIT faculty and staff in nearly every college.

Steve Hoover, who was recently named the Katherine Johnson Executive Director of RIT’s new Global Cybersecurity Institute, is bringing together academia and industry to help tackle the world’s cybersecurity problems.

The app, known as MUSEAI, is a new self-guided tour platform designed to enhance accessibility for all visitors in museums. Visitors use the app by inputting a number that is placed next to the artwork, which provides them with the description, historical facts, media (video/audio) with captions, audio descriptions and more.

The donation includes four premier and mid-tier ultrasound systems, transducers, simulators and related devices. The addition to the RIT sonography scanning suite enables students to practice on different models before beginning their clinical internships.

Student problem-solvers from 20 universities will have five hours to design algorithms and program them to work at a computer science contest at the Northeast North American Regional Final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), held Nov. 9 at RIT.

The winners of the world’s largest collegiate offensive-based cybersecurity competition will be crowned at the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition finals Nov. 22–24 at RIT.

Mary Barrett, from Hollywood, Fla., is a retired teacher with a love for learning. Barrett has been a member and student at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for 12 years and has taken many classes with a focus on history and literature.

RIT is celebrating Veterans Day with an event to honor veterans, service members and their families. The Rochester community is invited to attend the ninth annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Monday, Nov. 11, in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center.

RIT Croatia and A1 Hrvatska signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Zagreb campus and announced the first project: RIT students from the Croatian and American campuses will develop a software solution for monitoring air pollution.

Katboocha, owned by Katarina Schwarz; The Groom Room Men’s Spa and Lounge, owned by Monique Chatman-Jackson; Munchie’s Roc City Empanadas, owned by Luis Carasquillo; and Pointii, an online incentive program for educators and students, owned by Lawrence Forte, were the winners of the inaugural CUE Business Pitch competition.
