Matt Huenerfauth, dean, Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences; and Emily Prud'hommeaux, Boston College, published
“Phoneme Categorization in Prelingually Deaf Adult Cochlear Implant Users”
in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. Their research shows that the age at which a prelingually deaf child receives a cochlear implant affects their eventual development of speech sound categories in adulthood.
Luke Hellwig, a color science Ph.D. student, and
Mark Fairchild, professor in the color science program, won the Cactus Award for Best Interactive Paper, “Revising CAM16-UCS,” at the Color and Imaging Conference, hosted by The Society for Imaging Science and Technology.
Hadi Al Haj, a fourth-year game design and development/computer engineering major, and Aedan Frank, a fourth-year game design and development/psychology major, are recent recipients of the Vicarious Visions Scholarship. Al Haj earned the Fearless Pathfinder scholarship, and Frank earned the In This Together scholarship. Vicarious Visions and RIT’s MAGIC Center have a Memorandum of Understanding that includes collaborations and scholarship opportunities.
