International students spend virtual summer at RIT for cybersecurity research program
The Cybersecurity Visiting Student Research program brought together 12 graduate and undergraduate students throughout the summer to explore new cyber research and share their cultural experiences. Visiting students came from Italy, the Netherlands, India, Taiwan, Poland, United Kingdom, and the U.S.

The Biberaj Foundation Inc. announces a $1.1 million scholarship for 40 RIT Kosovo students
The Biberaj Foundation Inc. announced a new academic scholarship, in the amount of $1,160,000, for 40 students to study to obtain a bachelor’s degree at RIT Kosovo/American University in Kosovo Foundation. Preference will be given to students interested in science, technology, engineering, math, and journalism concentrations.

Josh Owen named director of RIT’s Vignelli Center for Design Studies
Josh Owen, an internationally renowned designer, author and faculty-researcher who has led RIT’s industrial design program to national prominence since coming to the university a decade ago, has been named the new director of the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and the Massimo and Lella Vignelli Distinguished Professor of Design.

Donathan Brown selected to serve as Fulbright Scholar Alumni Ambassador
Donathan Brown, assistant provost and assistant vice president for faculty diversity and recruitment, is one of 13 scholars nationwide selected to serve in the latest cohort of the Fulbright Scholar Alumni Ambassadors program. Brown will serve a two-year stint in the program designed to increase the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program’s visibility nationwide and expand the diversity of future participants.

Kamal Shahrabi named RIT Kosovo’s new president
RIT Kosovo’s Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Kamal Shahrabi as RIT Kosovo’s new president on Monday, June 1. Shahrabi has served as the dean of faculty since 2018, as an interim president since 2019, and will assume RIT Kosovo’s top post on July 1.

RIT Rallies: Biotechnology alumnus helping Bolivia respond to COVID-19 pandemic
Mohammed Mostajo-Radji ’11 (biotechnology) was appointed as Bolivia’s first ambassador for science, technology and innovation in February. He is typically based out of Silicon Valley, helping to encourage technology investment in Bolivia. But on March 19 he flew back home at the request of Bolivia’s interim president, Jeanine Áñez, to help coordinate his country’s efforts to combat COVID-19’s spread.

Victoria Maung ’20 MFA (medical illustration) is capping her college career with a Fulbright grant that will give her an international experience and a connection to her Southeast Asian roots. With the help of RIT Global, Maung, won a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to teach high school in Malaysia.
