A college student’s first year on campus can be adventurous, exhilarating, challenging, academic, rewarding and even a bit scary. To help make that transition into higher education a bit easier, RIT has started an innovative program to help students discover how they can be active on campus and engage with new people and places.

Intersections: The RIT Podcast, Ep. 28: Since 2010, Metaproject has paired RIT student designers with a client in what has become a signature project for the university’s internationally-ranked industrial design program. Distinguished professor Josh Owen, director of RIT’s industrial design program and founder of Metaproject, talks with distinguished professor Roger Remington, director of the Vignelli Center for Design Studies, about a decade of connecting students to industry.

A town hall meeting tonight will explore graduate student life and issues facing master’s and Ph.D. students at RIT. The “What’s Up?” forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in Institute Hall.

A week of events at RIT will recognize its growing community of master's and Ph.D. students and the high-level scholarship conducted on campus.

The team, led by three Ph.D. students from the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, won first place in the OpenEDS Challenge focused on semantic segmentation.

RIT is celebrating the 50th year anniversary of its internationally renowned collection of books and artifacts dedicated to the history of the printed word. The Cary Graphic Arts Collection is hosting a retrospective exhibition, “The Founding Collection and Beyond,” displaying pieces from the library that belonged to printer Melbert B. Cary Jr. and later acquisitions that have shaped the collection since its inception in 1969.

Looking to learn more about the roots of American deaf culture, fourth-year student Grace Bradford went on a study abroad trip to France. From June 24 to July 4, the ASL/English interpretation and School of Individualized Study double major traveled with other NTID students to Paris, Reims, La Balme-les-Grottes and Lyon.
