Anne Haake is stepping down as dean of RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences (GCCIS) at the end of the 2021-2022 academic year. She plans to join the faculty following a sabbatical to refresh her research.

RIT’s summer day camp programs offer young learners a foray into astrophysics, cybersecurity, energy and the environment, and college readiness. While RIT’s regular in-person Camp Tiger is on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, RIT’s K-12 University Center is providing select programs via a secure virtual platform through RIT’s Innovative Learning Institute.

Almost everyone looks up to RIT’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach Amy Reed, not just because she is 6’ 3’’, but because of her work promoting greater awareness about gender diversity and inclusion. As a result, Reed has been named recipient of the 2021 Edwina Award, which is given to a faculty or staff member for significant contributions to enhance gender diversity and inclusiveness at RIT.

Sarah Sabal secured two prestigious international scholarships—a Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) and a Boren Awards Scholarship—that will allow her to spend a year intensively studying the Chinese language in an immersive setting. She is one of several students who contributed to a record-breaking year for RIT in terms of securing funding for international experiences.

Commencement ceremonies for more than 4,100 RIT students begin today and continue through Sunday, enabling graduating students to don their regalia, walk across a stage, and be acknowledged by administrators for their milestone achievements despite a global pandemic.

If you couldn’t tune in to this year’s Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival which was held virtually on Saturday, not to worry. The more than 250 exhibits of projects, research, and performing arts of more than 800 students, faculty, and staff will remain online for the foreseeable future and are free to access.

RIT Libraries will move to the Frank Ritter Ice Arena for the duration of construction on the Student Hall for Exploration and Development, or “the SHED.” The multi-use space is expected to open in 2023 and will include extensive renovations to Wallace Library.

RIT President David Munson reflected on the challenges of the past year of a campus living collectively through a global pandemic in his final “Ask Munson” question-and-answer show of the academic year on WITR (89.7) radio Wednesday.
