Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences celebrates 20th anniversary
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, the college is holding a series of events throughout the year. GCCIS has evolved into the largest college at RIT with 23 degree programs and advanced certificates in a growing number of computing disciplines. Internationally, GCCIS is highly-ranked for its specialties in game design and development, computer science, cybersecurity, and more.

RIT researchers part of $15 million NSF grant aimed at reducing food waste
A $15 million grant from the National Science Foundation will be used to establish the first national academic research network on wasted food in the United States. Under the grant, researchers from American University will lead 13 other institutions, including RIT, in a five-year project.

At the university-wide career fair on Wednesday, representatives from 108 companies and the military met with students hoping to land a co-op next year, or a full-time position. More than 1,200 students attended the fair in the first hour.

NIH funds RIT project to search for novel antibiotics to fight multidrug-resistant bacteria
Professor André Hudson, head of the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, received a $443,583 grant from the National Institutes of Health’s Department of Health and Human Services to isolate, identify, and characterize new antibiotics.

Brick City Weekend returns Oct. 15-17
This year’s Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend, Oct. 15 through 17, features numerous in-person events including entertainment, hockey, speakers, escape rooms, axe throwing, a zip line, tours, open houses, and more. Building on the success of last year’s Tiger Alumni Week, a variety of virtual programs specifically for alumni will be held beginning on Oct. 11.

‘INSIGHT Into Diversity’ names RIT ‘Diversity Champion’ and HEED Award winner
INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has recognized RIT as a 2021 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient and a 2021 Diversity Champion. This marks the eighth year in a row RIT has been named a HEED Award recipient and seventh consecutive year as a Diversity Champion.
