Pete Van Camp played detective before he acted as a manufacturing engineer for his graduate capstone project. His project involved upgrading a Fanuc industrial robot, which had been sitting idle for a short time in the Fabrication and Robotics Lab located in RIT’s College of Engineering Technology. Limited documentation about functions, missing cables and components, and fewer technical people from the company to provide service support were just a few of the barriers Van Camp encountered as he began.

There are 740 new RIT students enrolled in the Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree program, designed to offer highly focused, goal-oriented incoming students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work toward a bachelor’s and master’s degree, starting from the first day of classes.

More than a dozen RIT alumni have tapped into the craft-beer boom that has swept across the country. In the past 12 years, the number of craft breweries has more than quadrupled.

Founded by a group of RIT Alumni, the grassroots organization looks to put homemade masks and other protective equipment in the hands of Western New York front line workers.

Brian Jaworski ’18 (manufacturing and mechanical systems integration) and Kevin Matthews ’16 (electrical engineering technology) will discuss how “smart” robots are being used in industrial and manufacturing environments as part of Manufacturing Day 2019.

If the old saying, “couples who play together stay together” is true, Jon Podeszek ’10, ’12 MS and Danielle Furman Podeszek ’11 have it made. The two are ultramarathoners who spend their free time training to run 50-plus-mile races.

UNA Smart, touted by developers as an innovative way to brew coffee and tea anywhere and anytime and created by five RIT alumni, was recently named to Brazil’s Top 100 startups list.
