Administrators field questions from RIT community at town hall regarding Black Lives Matter
More than 400 members of the RIT community attended a virtual town hall June 11 about the Black Lives Matter movement and ways to address issues of social justice on a local and national level. The RIT Town Hall Regarding Black Lives Matter, organized by the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, featured a panel of six RIT administrators fielding questions and comments from students, faculty and staff.

RIT is hosting an interactive virtual town hall at 7 p.m. today, June 11, to discuss the Black Lives Matter movement and ways to address issues of social justice on a local and national level. The event will begin with brief remarks from RIT President David Munson and then the floor will be yielded to participants who wish to ask questions and make comments.

Black Lives Matter flag to get permanent display on campus
RIT will create a permanent display this fall in the Student Alumni Union for the Black Lives Matter flag. The announcement was made Friday by President David Munson during “Calls for Justice within RIT,” an online interfaith vigil held in memory of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and other victims of police violence.

Telehealth connects homeless with therapists training at RIT
Residents of a homeless shelter in Rochester are continuing to receive therapy during the coronavirus pandemic from a team of therapists in a clinical internship program at RIT. The doctoral training program began as an exercise in using telepsychology to deliver care to a marginalized and underserved population. When New York shut down in March to stem the spreading virus, the therapists were already prepared to apply the telehealth protocols in the crisis.

RIT medical illustration graduate wins Fulbright teaching assistantship
Victoria Maung ’20 MFA (medical illustration) is capping her college career with a Fulbright grant that will give her an international experience and a connection to her Southeast Asian roots. With the help of RIT Global, Maung, won a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to teach high school in Malaysia.
