Roughly 4,000 RIT students and alumni came to RIT’s university-wide career fair today in search of co-ops, internships, or full-time employment. Recruiters from nearly 230 local, regional, and national companies, including Thomson Reuters, Kodak Alaris, Collins Aerospace, L3Harris, and O’Connell Electric Co., were present.

African American, Latino/a American, and Native American scholars and artists from across the U.S. are coming to RIT this week to learn how to successfully navigate their career search process while getting a “behind-the-scenes” glimpse into life as an RIT faculty member.

Adam Foster, a Ph.D. student in mechanical and industrial engineering from Villennes-sur-Seine, France, is a team member on PrisAM, a student-owned business.

WITR-FM (89.7) will host RIT President David Munson at 1 p.m. Wednesday, kicking off the “Ask Munson” series that will continue through the academic year.

In a move to further enhance an already robust innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, RIT is partnering with the NSF’s I-Corps Hub: Interior Northeast Region. RIT will join a consortium of 10 renowned regional colleges and universities that will utilize $15 million in NSF funding over the next five years to implement and execute a cohesive innovation ecosystem that delivers inclusive models of education and workforce training.

T. Andrew Brown, a distinguished attorney with a nearly 40-year career, including time as general counsel of the National Bar Association, will serve as RIT’s Frederick H. Minett Professor for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Nearly 30 events varying from interactive lectures to film screenings to a PC game-testing session are planned for the inaugural Together RIT: A Day of Understanding, Solidarity, and Racial Reconciliation on Friday, Oct. 21.

Lishibanya Mohapatra, an assistant professor at RIT’s School of Physics and Astronomy, hopes that a better understanding of how living cells maintain the size of their organelles can lead to therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. She earned a five-year, $1.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study how cells control the size of organelles.

Nearly 230 companies will visit the RIT campus on Sept. 21 for the university-wide career fair, and around 75 employers stay for the interview day on Sept. 22. The career fair will return to its original two-day format for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
