RIT’s MAGIC Center has developed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rochester Community TV.

RIT’s MAGIC Center has developed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rochester Community TV to partner on an initiative to equip Rochester City School District high school students with actionable skills and provide exposure to future career opportunities in the growing video game industry. Both RIT and International Game Technology also donated state-of-the-art computer equipment and technology to help advance RCTV’s e-gaming program.

“As an Empire State Development-designated digital game hub, it is the mission of MAGIC at RIT to establish solid foundations for long-term growth in the Rochester community through outreach and community building activities, to increase the economic impact of games to New York state, and to help make Rochester a hub for game development in New York state,” said Jenn Hinton, associate director of RIT’s MAGIC Center and MAGIC Spell Studios. “Games are the medium of choice for today’s generation and the perfect vehicle for community development and education. The mission and values alignment between RCTV and MAGIC makes this an ideal partnership and we are excited about the opportunity to be a part of this effort.”
