For the 12th consecutive year, RIT has been named one of the “greenest” universities in the United States by The Princeton Review. The rankings are featured in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2023 Edition.

This fall, Rebecca Oesterle ’09 MS (packaging science) was one of four industry leaders inducted into the Packaging and Processing Hall of Fame, for contributions to the industry and education over her 40 plus-year career at Energizer, and at Just Born Quality Confections.

Dr. Dennis Cormier, Earl W. Brinkman professor in the department of industrial and systems engineering, recently discussed 3D printing, what it is, how it works, how it is used, and how it should be used on the Peggy Smedley podcast. He says everyone is familiar with printing—3D printing builds up thickness, which is the third dimension.

A $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of State will fund a two-year project led by RIT professors Clyde Hull and Eric Williams to help the Southeast Asian region establish entrepreneurships based on the circular economy.

Thought leaders and executives from around the world gathered in Rochester earlier this week for the fifth RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference, which highlighted how “reman” is contributing toward a more sustainable future in the United States and beyond.

The RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference will feature a world-class line-up of keynote speakers and panel sessions with industry practitioners, tech innovators, policy experts, and scientific researchers discussing “Remanufacturing a Sustainable Future.”

Constanza Berron, a Fulbright Scholar from Argentina, went to Ireland to present her research on the circular economy in e-waste management. Berron is a master’s student in sustainable systems.

Nathan Williams, an assistant professor in sustainability whose research focuses on African energy systems, will play a key role in a project made possible by a $5.5 million grant from the Rockefeller Foundation to accelerate development and promote climate resilient infrastructure investment across sub-Saharan Africa.

The outside of RIT’s Brown Hall looks the same, but inside everything has changed. Once the final details are settled, Brown Hall will house new laboratories for genomics, computer engineering, and soil and traffic studies, as well as several computer facilities and office space.

Roughly 4,000 RIT students and alumni came to RIT’s university-wide career fair today in search of co-ops, internships, or full-time employment. Recruiters from nearly 230 local, regional, and national companies, including Thomson Reuters, Kodak Alaris, Collins Aerospace, L3Harris, and O’Connell Electric Co., were present.

Nearly 230 companies will visit the RIT campus on Sept. 21 for the university-wide career fair, and around 75 employers stay for the interview day on Sept. 22. The career fair will return to its original two-day format for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
