A traveling exhibit that calls upon craft as a creative force in voicing dissent and expressing hope in an era of political disruption is making its first-ever stop at RIT over the next month.

The Mark and Maureen Davitt Graduate Education Endowed Scholarship was established with a $500,000 gift to RIT by Mark and Maureen Davitt to help graduates from the Rochester City School District pursue advanced degrees.

WKBW-TV in Buffalo features a team of RIT students who are collaborating with a school in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to design musical instruments that are easier for students with disabilities to play.

Faculty and staff members at RIT are encouraged to volunteer with Rochester Global Connections, which pairs community members with international students to help them feel more welcome. There are 30 RIT international students currently in the program, but another seven are waiting for a pairing.

A college experience should include more than a degree, and for three years, students at RIT have been learning about the community beyond campus and finding ways to make it a better place through volunteering.

Robotics teams from across “the galaxy” will be ready as FIRST Robotics opens its 2020 season with a kickoff event at 10 a.m. Jan. 4. More than 600 students, teachers and mentors will gather to participate in morning workshops and then view the kickoff telecast revealing the details of this year’s game. 

Intersections: The RIT Podcast, Ep. 29: Caroline Easton, professor in RIT’s School of Behavioral Health, talks with Jacob Wadsworth, a doctoral intern in the university’s priority psychology internship program, about a project that uses telemedicine, the process of using telecommunications to evaluate, diagnosis and treat patients, to help homeless people access mental health and drug addiction counseling.
