After going virtual for 2021, the Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival is back in person and virtually, planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, on the RIT campus in Henrietta and online at the Imagine RIT website.

RIT is creating a School of Performing Arts to offer additional creative opportunities for thousands of students who wish to pursue their passions in performance while majoring in a range of other fields. The new school will be housed within RIT’s College of Liberal Arts beginning July 1, and a national search is underway for a director. 

RIT Esports is a national champion again, after a team of students came out victorious in the 2022 Hearthstone Collegiate Masters Tournament. The Tigers bested more than 200 teams to win the tournament, which is the main event for collegiate Hearthstone and is run by the game’s maker, Blizzard Entertainment.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, an in-person Relay For Life — one of the largest annual fundraisers held at RIT — returns April 2, with more than 1,000 participants expected.

RIT and the Global Health Association @ RIT are partnering with humanitarian organization InterVol in an urgent donation drive to aid the people of Ukraine affected by the Russian invasion. InterVol’s Ukraine Relief campaign is accepting donations through Thursday, March 10.

Ekua Quagraine, a second-year international business major from Kansas City, Mo., is the current president of Women in Business. Under her leadership, the organization will resume its annual Skate for a Cause event on Feb. 18, to benefit the Malala Fund.

A variety of RIT performing artists will showcase their talents at IGNITE, organized by NTID's Department of Performing Arts and Dance at RIT. IGNITE will have four shows Feb. 11-13 at Robert F. Panara Theatre in Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall.

Midnight Waves, a band formed by RIT students last semester, were named overall winners of Friday’s Ovation: RIT Performing Arts Showcase with its Latin/jazz combo performance of “The Tiger of San Pedro.”
