Clubs promise to be as active and diverse as ever
The thousands of students who belong to the more than 300 clubs and organizations at RIT face fewer restrictions this semester when gathering to play a sport, sing, dance, do community service work, or discuss common topics of interest. On Saturday, representatives from more than 230 of RIT’s student clubs and organizations attended the Tiger Activities Fair.

Fall marks the return of in-person global education experiences for RIT students
Dozens of RIT students are once again crisscrossing the globe this year for in-person international education experiences. Thirteen students from RIT’s global campuses and 11 students from RIT’s international exchange partners came to study at RIT’s campus in Rochester this fall. Meanwhile, 16 students from RIT’s Rochester campus have headed off for study abroad experiences across the world.

Meet Lucas Randrianarivelo, RIT Student Government president
Lucas Randrianarivelo was excited to start college five years ago, but it wasn’t until he became involved in student activities that he felt at home on campus. This year, Randrianarivelo, a fifth-year mechanical engineering major, is RIT Student Government president.

The SHED takes shape at the center of campus
Construction on RIT’s maker space and performing arts complex at the center of campus enters a new phase this summer, with finished architectural drawings, projects out to bid, and work beginning on the steel frame.

Athletic facilities undergoing a facelift
The first phase of the project is the relocation of the outdoor track and an upgraded synthetic running surface. The baseball and softball fields are also under construction with upgrades to all-weather artificial turf fields.

RIT unveils Action Plan for Race and Ethnicity outlining new diversity and inclusion initiatives
RIT unveiled an extensive new plan and series of initiatives aimed at making the university more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. The Action Plan for Race and Ethnicity will guide RIT’s efforts over the next several years as it rolls out new programs, services, and policies to help create equal access, opportunities, and respect for all students, faculty, and staff.

RIT’s College of Liberal Arts, NTID Performing Arts announce 2021-2022 theatrical season
A venue for Deaf playwrights; an interpretation of a Tony Award-winning musical; performance by talented student dancers; and New Yorkers struggling with relationships and identity during the AIDS crisis are all part of a new collaborative season by NTID’s Performing Arts Department and the College of Liberal Arts.

Commencement ceremonies for more than 4,100 RIT students begin today and continue through Sunday, enabling graduating students to don their regalia, walk across a stage, and be acknowledged by administrators for their milestone achievements despite a global pandemic.

Management information systems graduate will stay at RIT’s Saunders College to pursue an MBA
Nick Renzoni, a management information systems (MIS) major and communication minor from Holden, Mass., is following in his grandfather’s footsteps. Like his grandfather and many of his RIT classmates, Renzoni has decided to pursue a master’s degree directly after completing his undergraduate education.

Home grown leader builds a people-oriented industrial engineering career
Laura Discavage originally wanted to go to an out-of-state college, but RIT’s engineering program intrigued her. She learned about RIT while growing up from her mom, Maria Burgio ’87 (computer science). And after a conversation with a family friend about his work as an industrial engineer, she applied to RIT, and found the community she was seeking.

The more than 250 exhibits of projects, research, and performing arts of more than 800 students, faculty, and staff will remain online for the foreseeable future and are free to access.

Performing arts is center stage in NTID graduate’s student life and career
RIT/NTID student Shaylee Fogelberg has always loved being in the spotlight. And she plans to continue to shine at the prestigious IRT Theater in Greenwich Village after she graduates this spring with a degree in design and imaging technology in NTID’s visual communications studies program.
