Student Fundraising Events and Partnering with the RIT United Way Campaign

Whenever student groups plan fundraising events for local charities that fall under the umbrella of agencies supported by the United Way of Greater Rochester, it opens up a way for us to partner to mutually benefit your student group and the RIT United Way Campaign. The contribution would be recognized as being raised by the student group but the funds would be processed through the campus campaign to help us reach our collective goal.

100% of all funds raised by RIT student groups go to the designated agency or program – no administrative fees are deducted.

Not sure where to donate?

Why United Way?

United Way is Rochester’s largest and most efficient charitable means of supporting the planning, delivery and evaluation of local human service programs. They identify our community’s most pressing challenges and critical issues – then using donor dollars, programs are supported that show proven results in the areas of crisis services, early childhood, school age youth and aging.

How can we help your organization?

  • RITstaff/Message Center messages promoting the event – the student group provides me with the basic text of the message plus a jpg poster/flyer to insert in the email. We decide on dates that the emails should go out before the event.
  • A campus-wide recognition email after the event - the student group informs me of the amount raised and any other details like number of participants, photograph, etc. and possibly a website so people could learn more about the student group.
  • A letter acknowledging the group’s efforts to individuals/departments of the group’s choosing (ex. Dr. Johnson or Dr. Buckley or to the charitable organization directly).
