In hopes of inspiring more area K-12 students to pursue careers in technology, RIT’s Women in Computing group is bringing technology workshops to Rochester city schools as part of the new RIT & AT&T Mobile Tech Lab.

For the past six years, RIT has celebrated TAG Day to show appreciation for those who have given back to the university. In addition to hanging tags in different areas of the university that have been impacted by donor support, The Fund for RIT is hosting a TAG Day Fair until 2 p.m. today.

Undergraduate students at RIT recently received a $10,000 donation from the Raymond Corp., one of the top material handling companies in the field today. The Multidisciplinary Robotics Club will use the funding to support current projects and professional development opportunities.

Site preparation is underway for RIT’s Global Cybersecurity Institute, a new wing of the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences that will help the university become a nexus of cybersecurity education and research.

RIT’s MAGIC Spell Studios opened the doors to its new home this fall, inviting students, faculty and industry professionals to experience a digital media development and publishing learning laboratory never before seen in the Northeast.

Nathan Cahill, Donna Podeszek, Denishea Ortiz and Mary Beth Nally received Golden Brick Awards at the Faculty and Staff Alumni Breakfast and Golden Brick Awards Ceremony on Thursday morning.

Tours and hands-on experiences were the order of the day as RIT formally opened the newest building on campus—the 52,000-square-foot MAGIC Spell Studios. The RIT community is invited to an open house until 3 p.m. today.

RIT has won $1 million as part of the Energy to Lead Competition, which challenges New York colleges and universities to develop plans for local clean energy projects on campus and in their communities as the state seeks innovative solutions to combat climate change.

As part of the award, the four students will each earn $5,000 per year, up to four years, and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 while actively participating in extracurricular activities or community service.

RIT’s annual day of giving is being celebrated from midnight to midnight today. During this time, members of the RIT community are encouraged to make contributions to their favorite area of the university.

Brandon Hudson, a fourth-year applied arts and sciences major and CEO of Connexus, won $250,000 at the 76West Clean Energy Competition. Connexus is a heating and cooling control and monitoring company based in RIT’s Venture Creations technology business incubator.
