Coon, though, prefers to talk about the 15 classes of leaders he helped shape and the assistant coaches who worked with him to build a top-notch program. He has built a community that is there for his players long after they graduate.

    Janet Hackman, a third-year economics and environmental sustainability, health and safety major from Rockville, Md., is the team manager of the RIT Electric Vehicle Team, a collegiate electric motorcycle racing team founded in 2012.

    Kyle Scher knows AI, and he’s sharing it with his peers and faculty in RIT’s College of Engineering Technology. The third-year mechatronics engineering technology student from Dix Hills, N.Y. is leading a student team developing ProGenie, an artificial intelligence tool for faculty and peers.

    WITR: Come for the music, stay for the community

    Nestled in the basement of the Student Alumni Union, the WITR radio station space is a treasure trove of music, personalities, and nostalgia. The station and the music have greatly evolved since its first broadcast in 1961, but one thing has remained constant: the tight-knit network of students and alumni.

    Sixty cadets from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at RIT completed a four-hour capstone exercise on Nov. 23. The project required select cadets to combine their academic disciplines and leadership training to design, plan, and run the execution of a wargame scenario that would test their fellow cadets’ application of a semester’s worth of training. This simulation took place in the Cyber Range in the ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute.
