    RIT Dubai’s state-of-the-art new campus in the Dubai Silicon Oasis is now operational

    RIT Dubai completed phase one of construction on its state-of-the-art new campus and began officially operating out of the new location in the Dubai Silicon Oasis earlier this semester. The new campus was built with an overarching theme of interactive learning and spans 129,000 square meters with collaborative teaching and research spaces designed to accommodate up to 4,000 students.

    New media design graduate taking talents to Amazon Web Services

    While she’ll look back on the pandemic as a most challenging time, graduating new media design student Stephanie Liu also takes pride in knowing how well she rose to the occasion. At the culmination of her internship with Amazon Web Services, the Chicago native was offered a full-time position as a user experience (UX) designer, starting in July.

    If you couldn’t tune in to this year’s Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival which was held virtually on Saturday, not to worry. The more than 250 exhibits of projects, research, and performing arts of more than 800 students, faculty, and staff will remain online for the foreseeable future and are free to access.

    Open@RIT Fellowship Program supports faculty and staff open projects

    RIT’s open programs office has established a fellowship program to support faculty and staff with their work in the open community. Twenty-one projects have been selected from across the university for open work in everything from game development to ASL linguistics.

    Cultural exchange goes virtual for international game prototyping course

    As part of a gameplay and prototyping class at RIT this spring, 25 game design and development students got to participate in a virtual cultural exchange with 30 students at a Japanese college. The teams learned about each other’s cultures and overcame language barriers and time zone differences to create projects for a global game jam.

    ‘She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms’ premieres April 16-18

    RIT/NTID presents “She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms,” for four performances, next Friday through April 18. While the audience will watch virtually, the actors will be performing live in several “actor stations” in Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall and its Robert F. Panara Theatre.
